Jethro Tull - Live Bursting Out Inflated EditionJethro Tull had been riding years of fame with their story filled progressive studio albums, and in 1978 Live Bursting Out hit the streets for fans to devour. Now decades on, continuing with their deluxe reissue campaign, the album is now available as a 3CD / 3DVD 'Inflated Edition' with remixes by Steven Wilson in 5.1 surround and 2.0 stereo. Additionally, the album has been reordered back to its original running order with three additional tracks plus a Madison Square Garden show from '78 mixed by Wilson on the third discs.

Both DVDs 1&2 contain the original album remixed tracks in 96kHz / 24-bit stereo and 5.1 surround sound plus flat transfers of the original mix at 96kHz / 24-bit stereo. The third DVD contains the full 93-minute Madison Square Garden show including 50+ minutes of video which was part of a transatlantic broadcast with the BBC and Radio 1. The audio for the broadcast is 48kHz / 24-bit stereo and 5.1 surround.

The album features a robust setlist, including many essential tracks that span Jethro Tull's career up to that point. Notable songs include "Aqualung," "Thick as a Brick," "Locomotive Breath," and "Minstrel in the Gallery." The performances on the live album have been noted for their intensity and variety, blending blues, folk, and progressive rock elements. Some tracks, like "Thick as a Brick," are shortened, while others, such as "Aqualung," include added string backings, enhancing the original compositions.

One of the highlights of the album is the inclusion of Ian Anderson's virtuoso flute improvisations, especially on the track "Flute Improvisation/God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen/Bourée," which showcases Anderson's ability to blend classical music with rock. The album also features instrumental interludes like "Conundrum" and "Quatrain," adding to the live experience with solos that were typical of 70s rock concerts.

Critically, "Bursting Out" is often praised as one of Jethro Tull's best works. Some reviewers have highlighted the album's excellent sound quality and the band's strong performance. It has also been regarded as a live masterpiece, noting that the live versions of many songs surpass their studio live counterparts. Bursting Out is a fantastic release that has cemented its place in the annals of classic rock live albums. The energy, musicianship, and innovative approach to live recording make it a must-listen for fans of the band and the genre. This Inflated Edition includes a 96-page booklet with photos, an interview with Ian Anderson, about the making of Bursting Out, tour info and excerpts from crew members Kenny Wylie and Davi
