Fish continues his remix Deluxe Edition series with his 9th studio album "13th Star" originally released in 2007. This new edition, reimagined by original producer, Calum Malcolm (known for his work on 'Weltschmerz' and 'Feast of Consequences'), breathes new life into this set of remarkable songs.
CD1 features the dynamic 2023 remix of the album, accompanied by CD2, which treats fans to a treasure trove of original demos and live acoustic recordings, including a special radio session on the Bob Harris show from 2007 and a memorable performance from St. Mary's Church during the Fishheads Club Tour back in 2010. CD 3 contains live recordings from 2007 and 2008 with new mixes of songs performed on the US ‘Clutching at Stars’ tour at Nearfest and on the European tour supporting the ‘13th Star’ album.
Of greatest interest to readers here is the immersive experience found on the Blu-ray disc which features Dolby Atmos and 5.1 Surround mixes of the album by Avril Mackintosh and Andy Bradfield. Not stopping there, it also presents the original 2008 album stereo mix and a captivating two-hour documentary titled "The Search for the 13th Star." This insightful film by David Barras and Scott Mackay (Strangeboat) features in-depth interviews with Fish, Steve Vantsis, and Mark Wilkinson, along with unseen studio footage from 2007 and the original 'Making of..' documentary from 2008.
The Blu-ray further treats fans to a full-length concert filmed at Nearfest during the US 'Clutching at Straws' tour in 2008, where Fish delivers an unforgettable performance, including songs from '13th Star' and beloved classics from his solo career and Marillion's 'Clutching at Straws' album.
This limited-edition deluxe package comes with a 100-page hardback book in a slipcase, meticulously designed by Steve Vantsis. It contains over 13,000 words of extensive sleeve notes penned by Fish himself, as well as original artwork by Mark Wilkinson and a collection of exclusive photos from the studio, backstage, and concerts, including some from Fish's personal collection.
This version celebrates Fish's extraordinary talents, featuring his emotive lead vocals, complemented by the stellar instrumental performances of Frank Usher and Chris Johnson on guitars, Foss Paterson on keyboards, Gavin Griffiths on drums, and the luscious backing vocals of Lorna Bannon.
