Wham! - Make it Big"Make It Big" is the second studio album by British pop duo Wham!, released back in 1984. Composed of George Michael and Andrew Ridgeley, Wham! became one of the most celebrated pop acts of the 1980s, and this album was instrumental in catapulting them to global stardom. Featuring a blend of pop and Motown-inspired soul, the album's upbeat sound and infectious energy were a commercial success, resonating with audiences worldwide.

After their debut album "Fantastic" reached the top of the UK charts, Wham! aimed to achieve international success. George Michael took the helm in writing and producing the entire album, marking a significant step in his emerging role as a prominent songwriter and producer. The recording took place during a period when Michael and Ridgeley were transitioning from being teen pop idols to more mature artists.

"Make It Big" features a mix of lively dance tracks and smooth ballads. The music is characterized by its polished production, catchy melodies, and lush arrangements. Lyrically, the album covers themes of love, freedom, and youthful optimism, epitomized by tracks like "Wake Me Up Before You Go-Go," which became a defining song of the era. Of course, many know their major hit “Careless Whisper” featuring the ever-famous saxophone intro, this ballad marked a more mature direction in George Michael’s songwriting. Although credited to Wham!, it has been seen as a solo effort by Michael.

"Make It Big" was a commercial juggernaut, reaching number one on the charts in multiple countries, including the United States, the UK, and Australia. The album solidified Wham!’s position in pop music history and paved the way for George Michael's successful solo career. Its songs continue to receive airplay and have been covered and sampled by various artists, underscoring its lasting impact on the music industry.
