Djabe - Live in Györ - 5.1 Blu-ray surround release

The long-awaited reunion of the Djabe & Steve Hackett lineup finally came to fruition in 2022, after being postponed due to the unfortunate circumstances surrounding the Covid pandemic. The musicians were brimming with anticipation, eager to create music together once again. As they embarked on their tour, it became abundantly clear that the band's unity and passion led to their most exceptional performances to date.

The concert program drew from their joint recordings in Sardinia, featuring a rich selection of material from their collaborative albums. Additionally, the setlist was enhanced by the inclusion of classic compositions from Genesis, Djabe, and Steve Hackett. The tour enchanted audiences in Hungary, Austria, and the Czech Republic, captivating listeners with the band’s sheer musical brilliance.

To commemorate the tour's final stop, the band recorded a captivating video, which was expertly post-produced by the talented duo of Tamás Barabás and Attila Égerházi. Of course, for high resolution audio enthusiasts the Blu-ray edition is of greatest interest, featuring a meticulously crafted 5.1 surround mix by Barabás in 96kHz / 24-bit Dolby TrueHD and LPCM. Additionally, a high-resolution 96kHz / 24-bit stereo mix is available and both mixes showcase this unforgettable concert experience with several tracks performed live for the very first time. Among these notable highlights are "Lake by the Sea" from their acclaimed "Back to Sardinia" album, a rock-oriented rendition of "Ace of Wands" from Steve Hackett's renowned "Voyage of the Acolyte" album, and the enthralling "Győr Blues" compositions. The set includes numerous live renditions of Steve Hackett and Djabe compositions, previously unreleased on Djabe & Steve Hackett live albums, noteworthy mentions include "The Steppes," "Witchi Tai To," "Győr," and "Power of Wings."

Also, the Blu-ray disc offers a wealth of additional content, including a documentary filmed at various tour stops, screen films, and tunes from the Budapest, Vienna, Olomouc, and Debrecen gigs. The extras on the Blu-ray edition boast an impressive total running time of nearly an hour, treating fans to an extended and intimate exploration of this remarkable collaboration.

Furthermore, the two CDs encompass the complete recording of the concert in Győr, accompanied by two compositions exclusively performed in Vienna and Olomouc. A captivating version of "Castelsardo at Night," recorded in Debrec, further enriches this musical treasure trove.

In this superb live concert recorded in Gyor, Hungary, listeners are treated not only to the best of both worlds but the finest amalgamation of three musical realms.
