Tigermind - What's the Rush What's the Hold UpTigermind's latest album, "What's the Rush What's the Hold Up," is a tempered release that brings some fresh air into the indie music scene, blending dreamy folk and vibrant melodies with introspective lyrics. The album takes listeners on a journey through a kaleidoscope of emotions and sounds.

"What's the Rush What's the Hold Up" is a well-crafted release that showcases Tigermind's potential and artistry. The album's production is polished yet retains a simple and authentic feel that is often missing in contemporary music. Each track offers something unique, yet the album remains cohesive, thanks to the groups distinct sound and thoughtful songwriting.

It seems that the grunge of Seattle has been left behind when native Joshua Smith made a move to his new home in Austin TX. The music of Tigermind draws from many styles, offering an air of familiarity. Listeners will find acoustic, electronic, ethereal and earthy elements, each conveying their unique tones. The album was recorded, co-produced, and mixed in both Dolby Atmos and Stereo by Chris Bell. Fans can download a Dolby Atmos TrueHD MKV version through IAA’s online shop.

Due to the somewhat sparseness of this release, the mix effectively stays in the bed. Listeners are cocooned with secondary acoustic guitar and piano parts falling behind the sweet spot plus backing vocals spread widely in the rears too. The primary acoustic guitar and vocals remain up front while the space is otherwise used nicely for ambience, including the very light use of the height channels. But, again, let’s be clear this is a moderately layered ethereal release with a minimum number of parts to discreetly place around the room, rather it is primarily focused on the guitar and voice, with other elements lightly blended into the mix.

Best for fans of Tigermind, collectors of folk infused releases, and immersionists who must have everything mixed in Atmos.
