Pearl Jam - Dark MatterAfter dabbling in the avant-garde soundscapes of 2020's *Gigaton*, Pearl Jam retreats to their comfort zone with *Dark Matter*, their twelfth studio foray. For high-resolution immersionists, go ahead and dive deep when picking up the CD + Blu-Ray edition featuring hi-res stereo audio and Dolby Atmos mixes awaits your discerning ears.

The Grammy-lauded producer, Andrew Watt, takes the helm once again on *Dark Matter*, anchored by fiery guitar riffs and frenetic drum beats, all intended for blasting at very loud volumes. The stalwarts of Pearl Jam consist of Eddie Vedder (vocals), Jeff Ament (bass), Stone Gossard (rhythm guitar), Mike McCready (lead guitar), and Matt Cameron (drums), all convened at Rick Rubin’s plush Shangri-La Studios in Malibu to create the album last year.

During the sessions, the band members faced each other while communicating sonically at the highest level with the utmost precision. The album sprang to life in a mere three weeks, fueled by a whirlwind of creativity. “Dark Matter” embodies the unity of these veteran musicians, forging sounds with the intensity of a band on the brink of existential crisis, channeling decades of blood, sweat, and tears into a revitalized musical juggernaut.

The album's visual aesthetic is illuminated by Alexandr Gnezdilov’s light painting artwork. This technique, where prolonged camera exposures meet deliberate light movements, brings each album cover to life. A giant, homemade kaleidoscope and a specially designed flashlight were the tools of choice, crafting each cover letter to shimmer with a luminescent charm.

Pearl Jam’s legacy has been punctuated by a 2017 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction, their career spans over three decades with a treasure trove of accolades, including twelve Billboard 200 top 10s, five chart-toppers, and a staggering 85 million albums sold globally. Clearly recommended for fans of Pearl Jam, alternative rock, and spatial audio enthusiasts.

Released April 19, 2024.
